What is TWØTB [The way of the Bright]
A sacred commitment together to order our lives around 7 things,
so we can encounter God and shine in culture.
Those seven areas are:
Words: We speak life for the glory of God and the good of others.
Time: We live with a purposeful urgency for the Kingdom.
Rest: We regularly practice the sovereignty of God through sabbath.
Generosity: We want to shine through our giving.
Power + Vulnerability: We live in the power of God, especially in acknowledged weakness.
Hospitality + Community: We are a people of invitation and connection.
Creativity: We reflect and partner with God to create a better humanity.
The breakdown
In each section there will be a manifesto. It’s the declaration of what we believe and how that belief turns into a behavior. Jesus calls us to be hearers and doers. TWØTB on a website means nothing if it doesn’t make its way into our lives and as a result into the lives of those around us.
After the manifesto, there will be a wage-the-war section. The words found in TWØTB are not words pulled out of thin air. When you commit to live these things out by the power of the Holy Spirit, they wage war on certain things in us and around us. These words are purposefully chosen because they fight the darkness in our hearts and the darkness in culture.
Not only do we push back the darkness by living in TWØTB God gives us His Spirit to walk in obedience. The steps of obedience are ways we can practically shine each and every day. And when we walk in obedience, we experience God’s abundance. The ways of abundance are ways we can take it too far.
Even though each section and word are pretty self explanatory, there will be links to the sermons from Bright City, communicating our heart, as well as links to the sermon notes/slides.
The heart of TWØTB and the heart of Bright City is not for this information to be made known, but that Jesus would be made known in our culture, in our life. And we believe God wants to use TWØTB to accomplish this desire. The more we live out TWØTB, the more we will encounter God daily. And if we’re encountering God daily as the church, in culture, the world will encounter God as well. That’s what this is all about, people knowing God through the light of Jesus.
May He shine in you and through you as you commit
to live out the way of the bright each and every day!
